Here’s how it all works: Stress is a regular part of daily life. As you go through your day, trying to meet the endless supply of demands placed on you, your body (as though it comes equipped with a slow release valve) slowly leaks adrenalin into your bloodstream. This continual flow of adrenalin activates the fight/flight response, thus speeding up your heart and wearing your body down. Your immune system becomes depleated, leading to various stress-related conditions, and you feel tired and sluggish as the toxins from the adrenalin lie in your blood stream. While this is going on, that slow-drip adrenalin is feeding on the neurotransmitter, serotonin, the chemical in your brain that makes you feel good. Without enough serotonin, you experience depression. Depression and anxiety often go hand in hand, and many times can be the result of stress and overwhelm.
